20 minutes off the bay of Cannes, Saint Honorat Island, known as Lérina in ancien times, is a small lush garden in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. For 16 centuries, the monastery on the island has been home to the Cistercian Congregation of the Immaculate Conception. Today the community is made up of 25 monks living modestly and peacefully in this unspoilt sun-kissed paradise, an oasis of silence.

The monks of the Abbaye de Lérins have been making wine with passion and art since the Middle Ages. All processes (pruning, removal of unwanted buds and grape harvesting) are carried out by hand. The vineyard, located in the central part of the island, is made up of eight hectares from which the monks produce both delicious red and white wines, both of which have received international acclaim.
